În urmă cu câteva minute, la Los Angeles, Academia Americană de Film și-a anunțat preferințele în materie de cinema pe 2014. Voturile celor circa 6000 de membri s-au dus către opt filme care s-au calificat în cursa pentru titlul de Cel mai bun film.

În topul nominalizărior la cea de-a 87-a ediție a premiilor se află și Birdman și The Grand Budapest Hotel, fiecare cu nouă categorii. Opt nominalizări a obținut The Imitation Game, urmat de Boyhood și American Sniper, fiecare cu șase.

O omisiune surprinzătoare este Lego, la categoria Cea mai bună animație.

Nominalizările au fost anunțate de J.J. Abrams, Alfonso Cuaron, Chris Pine și Cherly Boone Isaacs, președintele Academiei Americane de Film. 

Gala de decernare a statuetelor va avea loc pe 22 februarie, la Dolby Theatre din Hollywood, și va fi prezentată de Neil Patrick Harris.
