Sindicatul producătorilor americani de film – Producers Guild of America (PGA) – a confirmat ieri definitiv (dacă mai era nevoie) numele candidatului favorit la Oscarul pentru Cel mai bun film: The Artist. Filmul mut al lui Michel Hazanavicius a fost numit filmul anului 2011, în cadrul unei ceremonii la Los Angeles.

Producătorul Thomas Langmann a spus, ridicând trofeul, că „atunci când eu şi Michel visam să facem The Artist, visam să scriem o scrisoare de dragoste pentru cinema-ul american”. Pelicula va ajunge şi în cinematografele din România, pe 24 februarie, distribuită de Forum Film. Melodrama hollywoodiană regizată de un francez are deja un Glob de Aur pentru Cel mai bun film comedie/ musical, unul pentru interpretare (Jean Dujardin) şi coloană sonoră.

Premiile PGA sunt un indicator destul de precis al Oscarurilor, dat fiind că 15 dintre cei 22 de câştigători ai trofeului breslei producătorilor au obţinut şi statueta, iar în ultimii patru ani opţiunile au fost aceleaşi: The King’s Speech, The Hurt Locker, Slumdog Millionaire şi No Country for Old Men. E foarte probabil, deci, ca The Artist să completeze şirul.

PGA are 4750 de membri, iar 450 dintre ei sunt şi în Academia Americană de Film, adică 8% din totalul membrilor.
