Deşi favorite se anunţau Mad Men (din nou) şi American Horror Story (pentru prima dată), fiecare având 17 nominalizări, marii câştigători ai premiilor Emmy au fost, duminică seara, la Los Angeles, Modern Family şi Homeland. Pentru prima oară după patru ani, un alt serial încheie supremaţia lui Mad Men – Homeland a obţinut 6 trofee, cele mai multe, alături de Urzeala Tronurilor. Damian Lewis şi Claire Danes au fost remarcaţi în rolurile unui soldat reîntors în ţară după ce a fost dat dispărut în Irak şi a unei agente CIA care suspectează că acesta plănuieşte un atac terorist, din Homeland.
Ca număr de premii stau bine şi Game Change, Hatfields & McCoys (filmat în România anul trecut) şi Modern Family, cu câte 5 Emmy-uri fiecare. Pentru serialul cu Kevin Costner în rolul principal a fost premiat şi Dragoş Stanomir, care a lucrat în echipa de mixaj sunet a mini-seriei coproduse de Castel Film.
Gazda celei de-a 64 a ediţii a Premiilor Emmy a fost Jimmy Kimme.
